Arabella Joy Sciallo is a Scottish multidisciplinary artist with a focus on sound and text based art practices. She graduated from Gray’s School of Art with a First Class BA Honours in Fine Art, and went on to complete the Graduate in Residence program as an alumni 2025 – 2026. Her current place of practice is Aberdeen.

 

Arabella likes to find moments, motions, and melodies within the everyday that can be brought out into fuller potential. One example of this would be her focus on human breath and voice, how it can be pushed and pulled to recreate the repetitive cycle many take for granted or barely spare a thought. Her detailing makes that cycle the focal point for her viewers. As Arabella deals with breathing issues her art allows control over a subject that has tried to lead her life since childhood and many an audio recording session is spent with an inhaler at hand.

 

Another area of note would be Arabella’s desire for her viewers to engage in some way with her art. The creation of site specific installations with audience interaction in mind, means there is almost always something to read, touch, or listen to depending on the artwork displayed. Alongside audience participation being important to her so is accessibility. Access to the arts is for all; regardless of age, background, or ability. Arabella strives to ensure her exhibition work is accessible to anyone, this is achieved through personal family experience alongside following guidelines set-up by organisations such as Shape ARTS on art and accessibility as seen below.
